Electric Branch Cutter

June 2003

In a team of five, we designed, developed, built and tested a branch cutter. It was a very elaborate project, in which every detail of the product had to be clear.

The design was made by one group member, and the development by the whole group. Together, we also made a working model. My main focus was to get the electronic part to work. The cutter should only work when both buttons are pressed. As soon as one is released, or when the knife gets stuck, the engine should pull the knife back in. This was controlled by a ‘state machine’ with an EPROM, programmed in Assembler.

This and the next page show some pictures of the model and the making of it.
